Public transport is pretty cheap in Moscow, and you can get around by metro (subway), bus, tram, taxi. The most popular and convenient method of travel is the metro. Tickets are very cheap and are purchased at the metro stations, at the window labeled with the word "KACCA" (Cyrillic). You can buy tickets for various numbers of journeys - from 1 to 60 journeys. There is a first-aid station and police post at every station. For information you can turn to any metro employee - they wear blue uniforms and red hats.

Moscow Metro is the first underground in the world, which created Wi-Fi network covered every train. The Metro starts to work at 6.00a.m., but stations open at 05.30-05.40 a.m. At 01.00 a.m. the entrances close and passengers must complete their transfers. Moscow monorail works from 07.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m. every day.

Marshrutka (Minibus-Shuttle)

These are smaller, normally private buses. They usually have the same numbers as the buses or trolleys and go the same route. If you see an approaching shuttle just wave it down like a taxi. You must pay for a trip from 35 R ($0.5) to the driver. When you are near your stop just say aloud to the driver where to stop. He will understand if you just say "Stop please!" or in Russian "Ostano`vite po`zhaluista".

Also, to save your time, you can install a local taxi app on your phone, such as GETT Taxi or Yandex.Taxi – both find the nearest driver and have prices that start from 500 Rubles for a 20-minute ride. It's worth using them as you don't have to negotiate the price in Russian (it's fixed) and if you're traveling longer than 30 minutes (the time it takes from Moscow center to suburbs) they have better prices.

Buses, Trolleys and Trams

Bus - av`tobus. Trolleybus- tro`leibus . Tram - tram`vai. The average waiting time may be from 5 to 10 minutes in the daytime. The public transport works from 5:30 until 1:00. The bus stops are yellow plates marked with "A" signs, trolleys' - white plates with "T" and trams' with "Tp". There are night buses, trolleys and trams.
